Hike The Mill Run Trail

Mill Run Trail, natural, stone dust trail, with a boardwalk.
This hike goes for one hour and friendly pets are welcome!

We will first hike up to the dam off of Guelph Ave. We will be parking in the Sheffield parking lot just off of Guelph Ave on the North-west side. At Sheffield where there is a fork in the road, go left and park in there.

This woodland trail runs along the Speed River from the Sheffield St. trailhead, under Hwy. 401 to Riverside Park, connecting Hespeler to Preston.

The trail follows the 1896 Galt, Preston, Hespeler Electric Railway Line passing through Chilligo Conservation area and the former Idylwild Park. Idylwyld Park Flyer Trail surface is mainly stonedust with stretches of boardwalks offering a footbridge crossing and river vistas. The area is alive with deer, beaver, ducks, geese, heron and numerous songbirds.

Afterwards you are more than welcome to meet me for coffee or light lunch at STEPH Cafe that use to be the Java Garden Cafe at the corner of Guelph Ave and Queen Street (North-east side).

Happy hiking and I look forward to seeing you there.

    Hi everyone,

I will not be able to attend on Saturday after all. :( I was involved in a bit of an accident and can't do an hour plus walk right now. Too bad -- I was really looking forward to it and was going to bring Hemi (my Great Dane) along for the walk. I should be good-to-go by the next one.

Good Friday to all. I walked this trail this morning from the other end-Russ St to Beaverdale Rd. It was mostly clear and dry with a few damp spots and one puddle which was easy enough to get around. Not sure what other end is like. Good news; turtles are back at the turtle pond opposite Blue Moose. Good hiking to all.

I plan to attend. Sorry I didn't cancel online for today. The weather wasn't great to come from Guelph. Looks like it was great. Lovely photos!
