What we're about

Hi and welcome to the group! This group is dedicated to singles who love to hike, camp, kayak and do things outdoors, specifically those in their late 30s to early 50s.

We are pretty laid back and welcome any and all levels. Our events are usually in the evenings and incorporate some sort of social activity so we can get to know each other.

We are hoping, through this group, to create a fun and relaxed atmosphere in which we can meet new people and have some cool experiences along the way. We welcome suggestions on cool new hikes or activities so please message us with any ideas!

*Due to excessive waitlists for the events, anyone with 3 or more no shows will be removed from the group. Please remember to always change your RSVP to not going and try to give us 24 hours notice so someone else has a chance to take the spot.

We are always looking for people willing to host and if you are interested, please send us a message.

Community Events:

Any member can post a community event. Just message us the details and we will draft a post and give you the power to edit, post and manage. These events will not be associated with the Meetup organizers and we will not be responsible for any of the details. Members who RSVP for these events will be prompted to agree to the terms of a community event.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Jenn and the rest of the HFS organizers

What Do I Need in My Emergency Kit? (Hike and Discussion)

I am really looking forward to this meetup as we will be going over essentials that every day hiker should have in their packs. We should always be prepared for an emergency and hopefully this meetup will give some important information on how best to do that. While I am not claiming to be an expert, I have had some training and have learned over time from others what things should always go with me when I hit the trail. So join me and we will hike and have a discussion on these essential items. I will have a kit to show, but also offering to buy some things in bulk for anyone wanting to buy a kit. Each kit will cost $40 and will include: First aid (while not exhaustive this is a good ultralight backpacking kit) -4 adhesive bandages -½ roll medical tape -½-ounce tube of antibiotic treatment -3 small packages of pills: ibuprofen, Benadryl, and an antidiarrheal -2-3 antiseptic wipes -2-3 butterfly bandages -Tweezers -Safety pins -One sheet of moleskin -Water treatment tablets -Latex gloves Compass Tourniquet Water Filtration Pills Firestarter Emergency Blanket ...and more! Please let me know if you want to buy a kit and I will pre-order. FYI, I am not making any money on these, but just buying some stuff in bulk to save us all money :)
