Would you like to experience real winter and improve your skiing skills? Treat yourself and join us for a trip to Borovetz where you can enjoy an outdoor thermal spa while watching the snow fall.
Borovetz is situated in Rila mountain in Bulgaria and at the end of February it is not crowded, thus our trip is perfectly timed for maximum enjoyment of the slopes. It is surrounded by hot mineral springs and open air spas which we will be visiting. We are staying in the exclusive, recently refurbished Rila hotel which is at the foot of the skiing slopes. On this trip we will be joined by a group of British skiers looking to improve their downhill skiing skills, for which the terrains in Borovetz are perfect.
Having visited all main ski centers in Bulgaria and many more in the Balkans, Borovetz is the place we'd like to share with friends again and again.
This winter we will spend 7 days in a the most exclusive hotel, the recently refurbished Rila which has a 25m Olympic size swimming pool, Turkish bath, jacuzzi and saunas where we'd spend the long winter afternoons, right before hitting the Bulgarian "mehana" (local word for bar). During the day, we'll be renting equipment to go skiing on our own or with an instructor. Ski pass and rental of skis, boots and poles start at 400 NOK per day. Amazingly this price includes a group ski instructor.
We will have a van and a driver for optional day-trips: within the range of 40 km from Borovetz, there are cute little village hotels that are built on hot mineral springs pampering both body and soul. One of them, Sapareva Banya has the ONLY geyser in the Balkans. The temperature of the water is 103 Celsius.
One of the highlights of this trip is a half-day visit to Rila Monastery. Founded in the 10th century, the Rila Monastery is regarded as one of Bulgaria's most important cultural, historical and architectural monuments and is a key attraction for both Bulgaria and Southern Europe (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Europe).
This skiing trip is for skiers of all levels, but especially for beginners and intermediate skiers who want to improve their skiing skills. The trails within Borovetz are equipped with snow cannons and few of them also offer night skiing.
