Let's Explore Jerusalem Mill South - Bridges and Kingsville County Park

http://www.dnr.state.md.us/publiclands/pdfs/GFSP_little2.pdf

Meet at the Jerusalem Mill parking lot. We'll be exploring an area I've never been to before. I hear this is a little more challenging with some rocky areas you need to scramble over. I recommend hiking boots rather than sneakers to protect those ankles!

It looks like about 2.5 miles down to the iron bridge. Up to that point the hike is an out and back adventure. So we can decide to go back as a group or we can continue into the Kingsville County Park which looks like a loop about 4 miles.

So total distance will be between 5 and 9 miles depending on the path we take.

Since it will be all new for me I'd love for someone that has done it to sign up and help guide.

We will likely maintain a pretty fast pace in the high 2mph, low 3mph range. Probably not the best hike for beginners. Check out the Gunpowder Falls Pine Trail for a good beginner hike. I'll do those pretty often.

Also, this is a rain or shine event.

This is cross posted with the Cecil and Harford County Outdoor Enthusiast meetup group.

Crap! I forgot I am dog walking Saturday. I'll probably post this hike again for Sunday morning if anybody wants to join.

Since this was such a nice hike I think I will do it again Saturday morning. Anybody interested? I may do a little longer hike by starting North on the Little Gunpowder trail, loop back to the parking lot then do the South trail we did this past Sunday again. That would be about 10 miles total if we did the Kingsville Loop or about 7.5/8 if we skipped the loop and turned back at the Iron Bridge.

I really enjoyed the video - it was beautiful! I saw the doggie back pack and it's great. It's obvious that your daughter and her dog have an awesome bond - it was fun to to see them together. Looks like that was a great hike! Thanks for sharing!

Diane, here is a link to a YouTube video from Annapolis Rocks on the Appalachian Trail.
It shows the doggie back pack my daughter's dog uses.

Wow, that was a great trail! Easily my favorite in the group of big/little gunpowder trails along the Rte 1/Jerusalem Mill area.
    Great group too!
About 7+/-.5 miles for the white and blue trail combined and about 290 feet of max elevation gain.
