Big Gunpowder Falls Pine Trail and pizza lunch?

Pine trail map:

Meet at the parking lot on the East side of Rte 1.

The Pine Trail is a ~5 mile each way hike (10 miles total) along the river and ends at Harford Road if you go the full distance.  There are no major hills and it is mostly flat.  There are great views of the river and negligible stream crossings unless it has been raining recently.

We will step off EXACTLY at 9:45. If you are late or have any problems on the trail, txt or call me at 301-6five5-5327. Otherwise there is no grace period and if you show up later, you need to run fast to catch up.

I need to be back at the parking lot at 1:15 in order to make a rushed lunch so we will be maintaining a solid 2.5+ mph pace for the full distance.  The trail is pretty flat so it is easy to maintain a fast pace.

This is a rain or shine event.

Long hiking pants are highly recommended because of some thorny areas!

If you cannot attend please change your RSVP. Two no-shows will result in me asking you to remove yourself from future events that have a wait list.

Dogs are welcome but they must be well behaved!

This is cross posted between the 20s & 30s Hiking Around Maryland and the Hiking Around Baltimore meetup groups.

Normally I'd suggest GPL for lunch but the service is so slow I prefer Margherita's about a mile North on 1.  They can accommodate a group of about 12 people.

And finally - I didn't want to put this in the title because it freaks people out.  But if anybody wants to try some trail running I'll be glad to join you to run ahead then back to the group.  Running in circles on a trail is much more fun than running nowhere on a treadmill.  :)

See you on the trails!

Should be a good hike. Weather is looking clear but cool with a high in the low 50s. Remember your layers!

Since we can't make Catoctin today, my boy and I will definitely come tomorrow to Gunpowder, which is pretty close to where we live. I can't run the trail with you (though the Ben, my four year old, will want to try!) but I'm up for a good pace and a beautiful walk!
