Sugarloaf Mountain Hike & Winery Visit

http://sugarloafmd.com/

This is a rigorous hike with hills - approximately 5.5 miles and not for beginners. We will step off promptly at 11:10am. You may want to bring a snack(and maybe even lunch for afterwards) as we will take a short break after noon. At the end of the hike we will go to the winery for a tasting and there is live music there from 2-5pm. http://www.smvwinery.com/index.htm

Directions:

From Frederick Follow Route I-270 South to the Hyattstown exit, follow Route 109 to Comus, then right on Comus Road to the Sugarloaf Mountain entrance. From Washington Go North on Route I-270 to the Hyattstown exit, circle under I-270 and continue on Route 109 to Comus, then right on Comus Road to the Sugarloaf Mountain entrance. From Bethesda/ Rockville Area Take Route 28 West of Rockville to Dickerson, then after passing under the railroad bridge, turn right on Mt. Ephraim Road and go 2.5 miles to Sugarloaf Mountain entrance.

There are 2 parking lots. East and west. I believe first one is East.
There are trails off both los. Which one?

Check the weather forecast in the morning before you leave as there is a 50% chance of rain predicted as of 4pm Sat. Maybe we can go to the winery first?? lol

The sugarloaf website says to stay off trails immediately after rain, so is there a policy within the group on if a hike is cancelled?

If there is carpooling from Baltimore, I would be interested in joining and chipping in. My first hike with this group as well.

Oops--I'm sorry. I probably cannot carpool as I may need to leave right after the hike.
