We do 2 different hikes from this meeting place. Usually we go upstream following the Green Ribbon Trail. Once in a while we go downstream or via Sheaf Lane past Highlands Historic Estate, many beautiful farms, and through Ft Washington State Park. If bridges are out on the Green Ribbon trail we'll go via Sheaf Lane.
The Green Ribbon Trail starts in Upper Gwynedd Township, Montco, then follows Wissahickon Creek for about 13 miles into Philadelphia. The Green Ribbon South hikes starts near the Philly end of the trail, then twists and turns up stream for about 5 miles. We take a short break for lunch at Penllyn Woods before heading back.
Much of the trail is right along the creek. Lots of wildflowers in the spring.
Caution:You should be able to walk 3-4 hours without much of a break.
You should have recently hiked 8 miles in conditions detailed above.
