This time of year the apples should be ripe for picking. They have at least 3 varieties. Sometimes there is a charge of $1 per pound. You pick them yourself.
The meeting place is next to the National Park Visitors Center which has a large parking area. It's also open on weekends and has nice bathrooms.
The Hopewell Furnace area has over 70 miles of trails which includes French Creek Pk, Warwick Park, Welkinweir, and the Horseshoe Trail which goes both north and south. We've only begun to explore this area. The Pinball Bakery Hike takes us south through Crows Nest Preserve, which might be the nicest area I've hiked. We'll then try some uncharted trails in the St Peters Village area which hopefully head towards St Peters. A gps will help find our way. At St Peters Village we'll stop at the wonderful bakery for a slight repast, pie suggested, then pinball at a vintage arcade with over 30 pinballs for a short while. We'll take a different path back. Caution: You should be able to walk 3-4 hours without much of a break. Hilly Hikes Warning
You should have recently hiked 8 miles in conditions detailed above. Hills, maybe some rocky trails. Hilly Hikes Warning:
