Technically speaking there may be no waterfalls in the Wissahickon, but there are beautiful steep running streams and dams. We'll hike up and down the Wissahickon gorge which cuts through the middle of the park. If you have never hiked in this area you will be in for a surprise. It's like having Maine-Acadia in Philadelphia.
We hike at a moderate pace for about 3 to 4 hours covering 7-10 miles. The terrain is hilly with lots of ups and downs. Each month I forge a different route, or get lost in another area, depending on your point of view. This is not a hike for those who want to go straight down one trail. We go up, down, around, back, hit dead ends, reverse course, and so on.
CAUTION: Hilly Hike Warning. If you haven't recently hiked at least 7 miles in this type of terrain, then you should first try one of our shorter duration hikes.
