To hike in this area you must first sign up with the Irvine Ranch Conservancy! https://www.irlandmarks.org/activities/sign-up.aspx?id=7124

NOTES: It's wildflowers time and there are some poison oaks on the trails. Limestone Canyon is connecting with Whiting Ranch, so it has most everything Whiting Ranch has including red rocks, sandstone, poison oaks and wildflowers...it's also a mountain lions country too...we are prepared and be aware being in nature? FYI!

CHECKING TIME: 7:45 - 8:00 AM

HIKING TIME: 8AM
DURATION: about 2.5 Hours
DISTANCE: 6 miles
ELEVATION: about 1000ft gain

ESSENTIALS: Bring plenty of water, sunglasses, sunscreen and a hat...snacks...

THE ROUTE:

Explore beautiful Limestone Canyon on this cardio hike. Along the trail, you'll pass through coastal sage scrub, grasslands, and oak woodlands. Multiple steep climbs and descents are included. Enjoy views of Saddleback Peak and the Cleveland National Forest along the way. Remember, even though this is a slower cardio hike, it is still faster than a walk. There is a docent leader taking us to Loma Ridge via Dripping Springs

ABOUT THE HIKE :
The hikes in the Limestone Canyon Wilderness area are some of the most scenic hikes in Orange County. On dirt fire road and are well maintained by O.C. Parks and the Irvine Ranch Conservancy. There is no cost for parking on these hikes but you must sign up. The docent lead hikes are required because of the sensitive habitat in Limestone Canyon.
