Description:

This hike begins in Laguna Beach at the top of the mountains at a place called top-of-the-world. There is a nice trailhead here with good parking, bathrooms and water. We descend into the scenic Aliso Wood Canyons Wilderness park along the West Ridge, Cholla and Wood Canyon trails. Down in the canyons there are woodlands and streams.

We will climb out either Mathis hill or along the steep and rocky Car Wreck trail. There is a mysterious wrecked Volvo up there we will pass on the climb out.

Directions:

In Laguna Beach turn inland on Park Ave from Pacific Coast Hwy. Follow until end at Alta Laguna Blvd. Turn left and go few hundred feet until dead end. We meet at the picnic tables at the cul-de-sac end of Alta Laguna Blvd. If you park in the parking lot walk out to the street and down to the cul-de-sac end of Alta Laguna Blvd. where you will see people around the picnic tables.
