  • HWP Social Monday: Freak Train at The Bug Theater MON JUNE 24; 715pm

ABOUT US: We are a community of queer (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex) and straight hikers, skiers, backpackers and more. We embrace diversity and celebrate our differences. All adventurers of good cheer are welcome! ABOUT THIS TRIP: Open Mic night at The Bug Theater is always a bit crazy. Twelve performers get 5 minutes each. "It might be the best 5 minutes of your life. It might not." $5 at the door. (It has included beer in the past, but haven't been able to verify!) Bring friends & meet at the door at 715pm. FROM 5280 MAGAZINE: Until the house lights go dim, it will be nearly impossible to know what’s in store for the Bug Theatre’s last-Monday-of-the-month Freak Train performance tonight. The performers arrive just an hour before curtain call, and the first 12 to get there are awarded one of the coveted performance spots. Come 8 p.m., when the show starts–and the audience is buzzed on Breckenridge Brewery beers–each of those dozen actors, comedians, or unabashed attention seekers will have five minutes in the spotlight. In the past, mock radio shows and multimedia cowboy skits (read: real people plus digital horse projections) have commanded the stage. While laughter is likely at this event, it isn’t guaranteed. Freak Train prides itself on being uncensored, and political rants are just as likely as comedy. Either way, the place fills up fast, leaving only standing room, so arrive early. Dogs are not allowed... Unless performing. TRAILHEAD: The Bug Theater 3654 Navajo St · Denver, CO TRAILHEAD MEETING TIME: 700PM Don't be early unless you want to be one of the chosen 12 performers. (Sign up at 7pm at the door.) TRAILHEAD PARKING: Street parking can be a bit cramped. I will likely bike over. COST: $5 at the door (In the past, this has included 2 beers, but haven't been able to confirm.) RSVP CODE: Please keep your RSVP status updated! Life always seems to get crazy right at 5pm. If you can't make it, just change your RSVP. Thanks! FIND FELLOW HIKERS @ HWP FACEBOOK (https://www.facebook.com/groups/hikingwithpride/) DISCLAIMER: Your safety is your choice.
