This presentation is FREE, but be certain to sign up for a FREE ticket to reserve a spot in case this event fills up. (The meeting room at the Lakewood REI is small, and does not have the overflow capacity of the Denver REI.)
FROM THE EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT:
Join Estes Park author Jean Muenchrath for a glimpse into her wild and wonder-filled catastrophe. Her grand adventure started as a 200-mile ski expedition along California's John Muir Trail in 1982 on skinny Nordic skis. Her odyssey ended in a mountaineering accident on Mount Whitney, the highest peak in the continental United States. Her escape from the Sierra Nevada Mountains took five days. After weathering a storm at 13,000 feet, Jean and her companion self-evacuated through deep snow with life-threatening injuries including a broken spine and pelvis. Jean's story will also reveal how this tragedy transformed her life and led to her to distant lands for both adventure and healing. Images of her journey will be accompanied by readings from her recently published book, "If I Live Until Morning."
