ABOUT THIS TRIP:
The first half of the hike is all up hill. Apex Park is full to the brim with historical value. The Apex and Gregory Wagon Road was carved through Apex Gulch and was one of the primary early routes to the gold camps of Central City. Apex City, where tolls were collected to travel the Road, was located at the bottom of Apex Gulch near the present location of the Heritage Square Shopping Center. The forest is enchanting.
