We are not alone! Millions of people live in Chronic Intractable Pain with no solutions. Many don’t even look sick. Pain affects every aspect of a person’s life and can alter everything around them.
After 35 years living in Chronic pain I have found that sharing with others in the same situation helps each person. In this meet up I will post best practices, solutions, problems, links to helpful information and a place for people in pain to gather and feel like they are just like everyone else. We all live in Chronic Pain.
When I first injured myself over 25 years ago I thought my life was over. Well, it was only beginning and now at 58 I have two great adult children and a wife of over 30 years. Many times Pain causes us to be negative about more than just the pain we are experiencing. Pain is a real game changer and it takes time to learn how to adjust your life to a life in Chronic Pain. Once you accept the situation the next step is to look for solutions so that you can keep as much of your pre-Chronic Pain persona and function as possible. I have been able to work successfully for over 35 years and rose to senior level positions in my field in spite of my Chronic Pain. This is not a cloistered program it is necessary to see other people as much as possible and interact. I can attest to the fact that it is not easy to do if you live in daily high level Chronic pain. We can discuss ways to overcome these situations later in the meet up.

This meet up is designed to help others manage their problems and deal better with Chronic Pain situations. This is not a medical meet up I am sharing my successes and failures so that others can benefit from my experiences. We will also discuss how different everyone’s issues are and that nobody has exactly the same problems as someone else. We are all unique and need individual solutions. I will share through the meet up ways to mitigate Chronic Pain and improve ones life. Now that the purpose and structure of the meet up has been explained lets dive into the issues. By living with Chronic Pain we may not be maximizing our potentials. We could be handling situations differently due to medicines we are on, physical limitations or the effect of the Pain on our ability to interact with others. After someone has to deal with Chronic Pain their lives change drastically and sometimes forever. The upside is that I have found solutions and I have been given advice from professionals that really works. The information and advice I received helps in many ways and that is what we are looking for – help. Remember, once you have surgery, take medicine or use a device you are not the same you were before you did it. There is a thing called action/reaction and it happens to all of us in our daily lives. With this meet up we can explore what worked and what didn’t as well as ask for suggestions from others that participate in the meet up for best practices. We really want to leave no stone unturned.
