What is your background in Philosophy? Did you major or minor in it? Take only one or two introductory courses? Are basically self-taught?

I have a PhD from Arizona State in political theory, and specialized in the history of political philosophy. I don't do academic work but I love philosophy and disccussing ideas with smart people.

What are your philosophical interests and favorite writers?

I'm interested in political philosophy and ethics, epistemology, aesthetics, and the history of thought. I have a keen interest in metaphors and metonyms and their history - I wrote my dissertaion on the metaphor of the body politic in ancient and medieval political thought. Favorite philsophers include Socrates/Plato, Aristotle, Epictetus, Marcus Aurelius, Boethius, Machiavelli, Rousseau, Kant, Hegel, Dewey, Rawls, Marcuse, Adorno, Foucault, and Rorty.
