  • Lizzie Carr's Mass Paddle for World Clean Up Day

    Hoboken Cove Boathouse (Maxwell Place Pier)

    We are joining other boathouses and people from all over on a mass paddle to raise awareness for plastic pollution with x3 world record holder and the founder of Plastic Patrol, Ms. Lizzie Carr. This will be a 20+ mile trip. PLEASE READ BELOW *must have volunteered in 2019* *must have completed a minimum of 2 trainings in 2019* *must have completed a 5+ mile round trip in 2019* The Plan: Leg 1 Travel north to MKC - 2 miles 10:00 am - meet at boathouse 10:15 am - safety briefing 10:30 am - depart 2 kn/h paddling 0 kn/h tide assist 11:30 - arrive at MK Join Lizzie's mass paddle Leg 2 Travel north to Inwood Canoe - 8.1 miles 12:00 depart MKC 1.5 kn/h paddling 1 kn/h tide assist 12:45 - pass boat basin (bail point) 2:30 - pass GWB (bail point) 3:15 - arrive at Inwood Canoe Club If there is room to dock will stay an Inwood, have some refreshments. Then take off at slack to return home. Leg 2.5 - Inwood to Columbia - 1.5 miles If there is no room at Inwood, we will continue North to Columbia boathouse. Relax there, then return home. Leg 3 Travel back home - between 11 and 12 miles. Part of the trek back will be at night. 8:00 - 9:30 pm arrive home It will be a super fun adventure, but brutal.   • The HACK Race

    * Boats available are limited and priority will be given to those who have consistently volunteered during our public program in 2019 * * All racers who want to use our boats must have volunteered in 2019, and have completed at least 2 training classes and be able to "self-rescue" * 4th Annual HACK Race on the Hackensack River on Saturday, October 19th. Enjoy beautiful fall foliage, a real submarine, great paddling, camaraderie, food – and your 2019 HACK Socks! Hosted by Wanda Canoe Club. The race course is on the relatively protected water of the Hackensack River, beginning and ending in front of Wanda Canoe Club. There will be a 9-mile Elite Race run in 2-3 heats with boats of similar speeds and a ~5 mile Novice Race for rec boats. Please note: due to safety concerns, SUPs and OC4/6s will not be allowed in the race. 7:30 AM - Check-in/Registration 9:00 AM - MANDATORY Safety Meeting for all paddlers 10 AM - 1st Wave of 9 Mile Elite Race (additional heats at ~10 minute intervals) 10:30 approx. - 4.5 Mile Novice race begins immediately after final heat of Elite Race is launched. 1:00 PM - Race finish Awards/Socks immediately after all races end
