HGJWC is a part of the General Federation of Woman's Club, an international organization that was founded in 1890. The GFWC currently has over 10,000 members in over 4,000 clubs in all 50 states and 12 countries. Although there is considerable diversity in the ages, interests, and experiences of GFWC clubwomen, all are united by a dedication to community improvement through volunteer service.
Our Junior Club was started by co founders Kathy Young and Rachel Chorley. After having completed a successful project for their children's school, they decided they had worked well together and would like to move on to do something else. Kathy Young's mother had been a member of the LaGrange Woman's Club. She often suggested that Kathy join a club in her area. Kathy and Rachel looked into forming a Juniors club in Homer. Within a month they had organized a meeting with 9 women in attendance. Six months later, November of 2010, the Homer Glen Junior Woman's Club was chartered with 30 members!
Since its installation, the Homer Glen Junior Woman's Club has been making a difference in the community through their many philanthrophic projects.
