LEAPS stands for Leading, Exploring, Achieving and Prospering Students. LEAPS is a group of highly involved and interactive homeschooling families. We believe that frequent participation with the group helps to develop strong bonds within our community.
We currently offer activities for families homeschooling students ages 5-14 yrs as of September 1, 2016 (and their preschool siblings).
We offer a welcoming, respectful, supportive environment allowing homeschool families to connect, pursue common interests, and share ideas while growing our children into leaders who will positively impact their families and communities for good. Our group strives to impact our communities for the better through donation activities and community service while educating and preparing our children for success and the ability to improve our world with confidence and compassionate hearts.
As our organizer covers our operating expenses, our group does not have membership or participation fees for our activities (with the exceptions of dissections and field trips); instead we choose a different charitable organization each month for which our group members provide wish list item contributions. Each participating child brings a donation item for the chosen organization (ie food bank, homeless shelter, children's home, etc) to the activity they are participating in. We feel this is a great opportunity to teach our children about community, sharing, and helping others. The organization of the month is noted in each activity's notifications and details.
*Participating in the donation activity is a requirement for activity participation and membership.*
Some Activities We Offer:
Weekly Science Labs, Field Trips, Nature Hike and Learn, Literature STEAM in the Park, ACS chartered Teen Chemclub, Art in the Park, Community Service Events, Robotics group, Make and Take Events, Spelling Bee, Presentation Days and fun family activities.
We offer educational activities as well as "just for fun" events. Most of our activities occur in the Little Elm/Frisco area with field trips and community service spread through the surrounding area.
Many of our activities are open to all ages and families are encouraged and welcome to participate. Additionally, we realize that there are circumstances in which an age-group limitation is beneficial to the child or necessary for the activity. As such, we also have activities that are focused on specific age groups:
