Homeschoolers of Madison County & Beyond welcomes families of all backgrounds and philosophies. We hope participants will see the group as their extended homeschooling community, developing friendships with other families and supporting each other in the process of home learning. We offer support, friendship, field-trips, classes, social events and activities of interests to homeschooling families located near Madison County, Ohio (and South-West Columbus).
Flexibility It is important to know that all events are optional! We homeschool because of the flexibility, come to what suits you and your family.
Is there a fee to join this group? All new members receive a free one-month trial period. There is no fee to join initially, but we do ask that each family contribute $10 per year to help cover the annual cost of the Meetup site. If you don't want to continue with the group, there's no obligation to pay anything.
Is the group on Facebook? Yes we are, however, our group is private and only members here, can be members there for safety reasons. It's a great place for discussion and new ideas! You can find us here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/homeschoole...
Who can see the information here? Information and photos on this site can be seen by approved members only.
Who can join? The group is open to all homeschoolers in the area. *You must have a child pre-school age or greater to join.* Anyone can find the site via an Internet search and request to join.
Can anyone post a meetup (that’s this site’s term for a get-together of any kind)? No, but only because MeetUp only allows 4 organizers, and only they have planning access. If you have any ideas though we would be more than happy to add them to the calendar for you! We encourage you to jump in!
RSVPing What if I can’t be sure in advance whether I’ll be able to make it to a particular event? Do I have to RSVP? RSVP's are pretty important around here! So if you can, please do, if you're unsure you can always leave a comment under the event posted with an explanation that you're not 100% yet.
Can I invite others to join? Absolutely! Many of us are members of other support groups or co-ops, and this Meetup site isn’t designed to replace them. All are welcome!
Monthly MeetUps: *We currently have five scheduled MeetUps per month at the moment: 1.) Social Activity- (usually free, like a park day, Holiday Party or anything that cultivates friendship and play) 2.) A Scheduled Class- (Example: These are things our kids would not normally learn at home and unique in nature.) 3.) At least 1- Monthly Field Trip (We plan one for each month of the school year during a MNO.) 4.) MNO- Mom's Night Out! It's a great way to get a break and the support you need to be the teacher and parent that you want to be. It's also a great way to strengthen friendships and also plan for future events as a group. 5.) The Home Depot 1st Saturday Kids Class (FREE!)- We always have this on the calendar, we often have a second MNO and go to the "Do It Herself" class together (and it's a blast, I promise!) again, all free.
