More interesting to me is Herbert Simon's idea that the technology we make creates it's own 'world'. Think of cars. They are artificial - we don't find them in nature. But they have their own ecosystem: manufacturing plants, roads designed for their use, gas stations, service stations, buses, taxis, etc. That system is like a living system - if there's a need we will evolve something to meet that need. That (not the cars metaphor but that type of situation) creates the situation that is akin to the simulation hypothesis.
