20th Annual Paws in the Park

Let's get together at the 20th Annual Paws in the Park event in Pearland`s Independence Park.

***Please check out the event details links for the specific items that you are interested in.   Even though we will have our official Meetup on Saturday, there might be something going on at a different time that you might be more interested in.   (Example: There is a special long distance Disc Dog Competition on Saturday,  but the finals for the Dock Dogs Big Air Competition are on Sunday afternoon. )

Pearland Parks & Recreation is gearing up for the 20th annual Paws in the Park, coordinated by Pup Squad Animal Rescue. Things will kick off on Saturday morning with the HEB Plus! Pet and Owner Fun Run followed by the national Dock Diving competition. The Houston Canine Frisbee Disc Club will hold a competition in two divisions. Also scheduled to perform are the canine cast of "Pets Overboard," an entertaining pet-centric show. Plus, face-painting, hamster balls, doggy dancing, costume contests and much more!  There are several demonstrations planned throughout the weekend including Flyball, Agility, Obedience and Grooming.

I hate to miss this, but eames has a bad cough and I probably shouldn't bring him around other dogs.

I am not going to be able to make it today. The vet appointment for my latest addition/bedlington terrier was set for today.

I hope to get there around 11 as well. I will be accompanying a westie who told me he will wear his white/black zebra puppia harness so he can be noticed!

  • Maria

I'd like to meet up with you all there. I look for you and the balloon!

    March 27, 2014

  • Tara

I'm planning on getting there at noon. I haven't been able to find a firm schedule of events with the exception of the Dock Dogs which starts a "wave" at 1 pm. I'm thinking Molly and I will hang out close to the diving pool around 12 pm. (Molly is my profile pic.) I'll post what I'm wearing tomorrow night and I might get a balloon or something to easily identify us - just check here for details before you get there. If you can't find us, send me a text! Tara, is the plan to meetup somewhere at noon? I don't plan to do the walk but will be at the event. If there is a lure course, my westie will love it!

    March 27, 2014

  • Tara

Folks, I've never been to this park and I can't find a park diagram online. I'm not quite sure where to meet but I've got a call into Pearland parks and recreation to get more info. Please refer to this comments section within the next couple of days to find out specifics on how to find everyone.

Independence Park is relatively compact. When you enter the park there will be a parking lot on the left for those who are going to the activities; also fields will be opened up for overflow. However, turning right and following the loop around, will take you to the back of the park (Pearland Parkway side) and a field will be used for parking. This will be the most convenient and shortest distance for anyone who is running. Also, parking has always been free.

My dog is competing in the dock diving event on Sunday. So we may show up on Saturday to scope out her competition.

Good luck to you and your pup! Some of our folks may be there to cheer ya'll on. Post a comment after the competition to let the rest of us know how things went. :)
