The CAMPSITE: I have 5 campsites reserved that are supposedly good for 40 at most (8/site) but from experience we should expect to fit only 6/site or 30 total. From the park : "Sites have picnic table, fire ring and/or grill. 77 sites have 30 amp electric receptacles." I will not know our site numbers till we check-in.
Park Rules: "CHECK IN: All campers are required to check in at the park headquarters before occupying a site. ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES: Public consumption or display of an alcoholic beverage is prohibited. PETS: Pets must be attended and on a six-foot leash at all times. Pets are not allowed in any park buildings, cabins, or shelters. Customer must provide proof of current vaccinations for each pet entering the park. FIREWOOD: Gathering of firewood is prohibited. ENTRANCE FEES: Entrance fees are in addition to Campsite or Day Use Facility fees. EXCESS VEHICLES: An excess vehicle fee will be charged for all vehicles over the limit of 2 per site. HORSES: For Parks that allow horses - All horses entering the park, must have a negative Coggins test less than 12 months old. SITE NUMBERS: Sites are assigned on a first come, first served basis. Site numbers are not assigned in advance of arrival at the park. WILDLIFE: Feeding of wildlife is prohibited."
COSTS: Its $16 per site total and so divided by 6 it should be ~ $3 per person for the night. It will be a litte more if less than 30 decide to camp but I'll set the max at $6.
FOOD: I am suggesting people organize individually or by carpool. I'll have a small grill and stove that people can borrow for meals but I'll also bring charcoal to start-up a grill. I'll also have a few hotdogs for those hikers that are not camping but may decide to join us for the after-hike picnic.
CAMPING LIST FOR BEGINNERS: You may not need everything on this list. Adapt to your tastes or circumstances. CLICK HERE (http://files.meetup.com/1731871/Beginners_camping_list.pdf)
