The Hike: We will be looping through most trails in this park beginning near our shelters, from south to north. For those that have not been doing our weekly hikes this may be a challenge ( a lot of up and down elevation gains).  So if you want to do this hike without too much pain then start getting in shape by doing the weekly hikes or some other type of fitness beginning now.  For this hike, we first do the blue hashed-arrows followed by the yellow and ending with the red hashed arrows as indicated in the route map: CLICK HERE.

For the last time we hiked here CLICK HERE.

My phone in case you get lost:[masked]

Gathering Place:  Most of us will walk from our shelters/campsites to Pecan Groves Shelter #'s 12 & 13.  Our trailhead will be there.  Others who drive into the park proceed to the Pavilion & Gift Shop and park there.  Then walk to  shelters # 12 & 13 where we will be waiting.

Optional After Hike Event : After relaxing in the Frio River we head to The Hog Pen for dinner,

Hi I just joined. FYI: I'm going to be out at Garner with some friends this weekend. So it's possible I might run into some of you guys.

i have not been able to get started doing any of the hikes but i do other things to stay in shape and distances are no problem for me. i have not been camping or hiking in years and have no equipment for either. i would like to join any group who has room for camping though, and or join someone driving to this event. i live in rosenberg and can meet and park to join a carpool. if anyone can help i would appreciate it and would enjoy getting started hiking by attending this event and seeing what i imagine to be a very beautiful Garner State Park. I am Kevin and work for myself as a Copier, Fax, Printer and Typewriter Repairman. i also sell used equipment and sell toner. most of my customers are in the Southwest.

There are several carpooling threads working on the main camping event page. Camping with the group is on waitlist right now but there are two campsites available in the "new" section of Garner. We are camping in the old section. Feel free to email me through Meetup for more information. For reservations look here - http://texas.reservew...

Kevin, several of the key members of the group today started with the group on the Garner/Lost Maples trip last year. It is the most challenging and rewarding hike fairly close to this area. You won't be disappointed!

Is anyone interested in carpooling? I'm planning on going Saturday early? Let me know?

For anyone with a Garmin (or other brand) GPSr that can use custom maps, here is a KMZ file with the park trails and intended route for this hike.

If you guys have time, a scramble up Old Baldy is fun and provides a great overview of the park!
