What we're about

This is a group for anyone interested in playing badminton in the larger Houston area. All skill levels are welcome.

Our main purpose is to bring together badminton enthusiasts during off-peak hours.

We meet at the Houston Badminton Center (10550 W Airport Blvd, Stafford, TX 77477), on Saturday nights usually.

Effective September 18, 2021, the MeetUp group will play on the Houston Badminton Center's queuing system (6 courts). That way, we can best ensure the lowest wait times between matches.

Once you have four players, use the clipboard to submit your group to the queue. The games coordinator will direct your group to the next available court. That way, you won't have to guess which court will free up next.

A group of 4 would play for two games and then re-enter the queue. A group of 2-3 would play for 15 minutes and then re-enter the queue. We encourage everyone to play doubles in order to keep the queue moving and have more fun.

If you need help finding players to join you, feel free to ask the games coordinator.

More information for those planning to attend:

  • If this is your first visit to the Badminton Center, you can enjoy free admission by mentioning at the front desk that you are with the Meetup party. Otherwise, you will have to pay the one-time admission fee--unless you have a membership. As part of the sponsorship offered by the center, we benefit from off-peak fees ($7 for adults and $5 for seniors/juniors)--but you will have again to mention to them that you are with the Meetup group

  • Please bring shoes with non-marking soles, preferably for indoor use

  • You can rent a racket from the center if you don't have your own

  • Last but not least: as a courtesy to the other players, please be ready to provide new shuttles of decent quality when playing games. You can purchase some from the front desk. Keep in mind that good quality shuttles can cost about $2 apiece; while not cheap, they do tend to last longer than the cheaper ones. The front desk would sell us shuttles by single piece, upon request.

I hope to see you all on the badminton court!
