2014 Sochi Olympic Learn To Curl Hosted by Curling Club Of Houston 2/23/2014

In conjunction with the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, The Curling Club Of Houston will be hosting two, (Olympic) Learn To Curl sessions so that the people in the Houston Metro area can come and get a closer look and a first hand experience of this great team sport. Come on down and meet our club members to learn this game.  Not only will you see it's a very engaging sport, but a very teamwork oriented sport.   The very core of this game that brings the mental toughness of chess to ice.

Where: Space City Ice Station
18150 Gulf Freeway
Friendswood, TX 77546

**Please take special note****
Due to the construction in the area, the turn into the ice rink will be quick. Coming from I-45 North, you may exit# 29 (FM2351) Friendswood exit, but you will be getting back on the freeway.  Stay in that lane and be ready to turn once you re-exit the highway.  The entrance will be right after the  Hyundai and before the Lexus dealership.  This in the only entrance into to the facility.  If you miss this you will have to go around and all the way back to FM2351.

****This will be a learn to curl type date versus for original date.  This date is to give some new curlers a chance to get some practice in and one more opportunity for people to try curling.****

 When: February 23rd

Time: 9am-11am

What To Bring/Wear:   Please dress for chilly weather. You will be in a cold environment for approximately 2 hours.  For shoes: Soft soled shoes (Ex: Sneaker shoes) will be best to wear on the ice.  Pants: People should wear dark colored loose-fitting pants.  Also wear dark colored shoes if possible.    Due to the temporary houses that are being used, you may end up with marker on your clothing.  The temporary houses are made with sharpie markers that write on the ice.  We cover them with a layer of water to protect them, but due to play over it continuously, it wears down and the marker will transfer to clothes.

Fee: $20 per person

Afterward, meet us upstairs in the bar/ lounge area and members of the club can answer any questions you may have more about the great game of curling, about our club itself and information about joining the club.
