Ian Wells (BSEE, BA Rice '06) has a background in satellite systems engineering and currently works as an Engineer and Data Scientist at VerseAI, a boutique energy analytics startup. He is active in the local civic data science scene.

Paige Bailey is a geophysicist by background (Rice University '13) and is pursuing a Master's in Computer Science at the University of Houston. She currently works as a Data Scientist at Chevron, specializing in drilling and completions optimization in the Permian - and is always down for a jam session about R, Python, or data visualization.
Deval is a Data Scientist working at Advanced Analytics CoE in Shell. His area of expertise is in neural networks and physics + big data based hybrid models. He has worked on predictive analytics projects ranging from Ecosystems modeling for predicting to greenhouse gases to predictive maintenance. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and a M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from The University of Texas at Arlington. He is very passionate about Future of Energy and also volunteers as an Advisor at Houston Technology Center.
Imtiaz Hasan has an undergraduate degree in biology and chemistry. Like many others in data science, he loved the challenge of solving problems in different domains. He taught himself Python, R, SQL and pursued a master's in data science. Since graduation, he’s worked for AT&T U-verse and is currently working for Total Safety in the oil and gas domain. He has worked on several contract projects on the side as well. Day to day tasks are a lot of data cleaning, data visualizations, price optimization, unsupervised learning, process automation etc. He is always learning and wishes to be more skilled in deep learning.
Giewee has an extensive mathematics background which she uses to resolve complex problems for Upstream E&P. She is a Lead Data Scientist for her division and has strategized and filled needs for constructing a productive advanced data analytics team to meet the demands of upstream ADA projects. Her projects are high profile, information sensitive by nature and require strategic planning with department directors. She led a company initiative on how knowledge gets managed as senior employees leave her company over the next two to three years. She enjoys empowering individuals with information that will help them to make decisions with favorable outcomes. She holds the following master's degrees: Actuarial Science and Analytics.
