ENJOY LIVE MUSIC - DANCE - MAKE NEW FRIENDS - HAVE FUN!
If you are over 40 and want a fun group of live music lovers to hang out with, then join us! We are a super-friendly MeetUp group that attends live music venues throughout the Houston area on a regular basis. Most of the music will be Blues, Classic Rock, R&B, with a little Jazz thrown in for good measure. We have a blast wherever we go and you will too!
Most of our events take place at The Big Easy, the Continental Club, and Shakespeare's Pub, but we also have events at other places like Caps Piano Bar, Fitzgerald's, Rockefellers, etc. We like variety and see a lot of different bands throughout the Houston area. We typically have events at least once a week. Most of the places we go have $0 cover charge but sometimes we go to ticketed events.
We realize that attending a public venue where you don't know anyone yet can be intimidating. So we try to make it super-easy for members to find each other at events. We wear buttons/stickers that say "Rock n Blues Crew" at events so you can find us. Plus, we have table tents with our name on them to show where we are sitting. We are very welcoming to new members and you will not feel left-out. :-D
MEMBERSHIP FEES: We have strict membership requirements. We charge a $5/yr membership fee to help pay for the costs of running this group. Plus, we feel that this fee will discourage non-committed members. We would rather have a small group where 95% of the members are active at attending events, than have a large group of people who never show up for events (which is a common problem with MeetUp groups)

PROFILE PHOTOS: To become a member, your profile must have a clear headshot photo of you (and only you!)...otherwise you will not be accepted as a member (this is for safety reasons). Since we are about "meeting up" in person, we like to know what everyone looks like. (This is not an anonymous online dating site! ;-D) You will need to use the desktop version of MeetUp to change your photos, and please know that you can have a different photo for each MeetUp group that you are in, as well as your primary profile photo.
REGULAR ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED: As a member, you are expected to attend at least one event every other month. Inactive members will be removed and membership fees are NOT refundable.
NO SHOWS: If you habitually sign up for events but "No Show" or RSVP "No" at the last minute, then you will be removed from the group, regardless if you have paid a membership fee or not. Event Hosts spend a lot of time finding fun events, making arrangements with venues, getting there early to save tables/seats, etc. We understand that sometimes unexpected things happen, but habitual No Shows are not acceptable.
IMPROPER BEHAVIOR: Members who are disrespectful to the Organizer or other members will be removed from the group and membership fee will NOT be refunded. We are all old enough to know how to behave properly. Overtly sexual comments or unwanted touching will not be tolerated. Just because we're in a MeetUp together, does not give anyone a right to touch or hug a Crew member.
