Attention writers, Team Armageddon is looking for a new critique group member!

Philosophy/Mission Statement:
The purpose of this group is to help the novelist figure out how they want to write their novel and help facilitate the writing of that novel. This means that summaries, plot outlines, and short stories for experimentation will be acceptable submissions as long as the goal of participation is to get the participants to a place where they can feel comfortable writing and critiquing the novel in progress.

We are a no holds barred critique group that provides all and any criticism. We are not afraid to say “this sucks” and “this is unnecessary” or “something better happen soon or I’m going to kill you,” but it also means we say things like, “this is amazing” or “I never saw that coming” and “you’re characters utterly enchant me”. And when we say it, we mean it. Everything we say and do is to help each other be better writers. To date, we have had 3 full length published novels come from our critique group members and have 1 novel in pre-publishing currently.
We have recently lost one of our members to the Communists and are looking for a good man or woman who is interested in writing a full length novel to be part of Team Armageddon. These are the genres we are currently writing in: Epic Fantasy, Action Science Fiction, Supernatural Thriller, Horror/Suspense, and Dark Comedy.
Responsibilities of all members:
Read every submission by other group members. This generally means you will be reading 5 submissions that are between 2,000 and 13,000 words long each month. You must submit a piece that is the aforementioned length monthly. We normally submit via Dropbox two weeks before each monthly meet up. You must be willing to come to every meeting which occurs on the first Monday of every month. You must be able to take and give criticism well. If you’ve never been part of a critique process, do not worry, we were all new to this at one time but you must be willing to learn. Due to the fact that we are all at varying points in our novels, we will graduate you over the course of three months from critiquing only the shorter works to the more completed works. This means you must be willing to read (not necessarily critique) to get up to speed on the works we have in progress. Also, you must be able to accept unbridled adulation without becoming a cocky son of a bitch.

If you are interested in being part of our group, do the following:

Submit a piece of your current novel or a piece in the same genre of what you plan to write. Your submission must be at least 5,000 words long but no longer than 10,000 words. We lay preference to this being a relatively new, not previously critiqued novel. Please provide the beginning of your novel. Do not submit the middle. We must be able to know what is happening in the story or we won’t be able to actively review it. We are uninterested in critiquing pieces that you are already shopping around.
Your piece must be submitted in a word document (double spaced, at least size 11 font) by July 15, 2013 by email only to LeoKing@foreverwhere.com Please include your phone number in the email so we can alert you if you have been selected. We will make our decision the night of August 1st and will alert you by August 2nd by email or by phone call. Leave your calendar open for Monday, August 5, 2013 as that is our regularly scheduled session. We meet at 7pm and usually end between 10 and 11pm. You will not be required to provide critiques at the August meeting, but we will critique your submission, and you can see how we normally run our meetings.
We will be accepting only one new member at this time, and it will be on a probationary three month period to ensure we all work well together and that nobody punches anybody in the face. We are very strict on not getting hit in the face here in Team Armageddon.
We look forward to hearing from you. Happy writing and good tales!
