Climate Change Workshops -- Take Action!

An invitation has been extended to Houston Skeptic Society from the Science Lecture organizers at First UU. Below is the information. From past conversations we've had I assume several of you would be interested in attending. I know I'll be there. 

Climate Action Workshops with Featured Speaker Stephanie Thomas, Ph.D. 
Sunday, May 4, 2014, at 1:30 p.m.; Workshops at 2:45 p.m. 
Free Admission — Community networking & refreshments between talk and workshops.

Dr. Thomas will open with a survey of global cooling and warming past and present, the driving force of greenhouse gases, and other challenges for life on Earth. She will offer perspectives for moving from blame towards action that nourishes our personal and collective lives. 
Proposed selection of workshops: 
* Green architecture 
* Trading locally 
* Urban agriculture 
* Wealth addiction 
* Low-carbon transit 
* Human-powered neighborhoods

Dr. Stephanie Thomas is a geologist and paleoclimatologist experienced in reconstructing ancient environment and climate. After working in the energy industry, she now focuses on environmental advocacy and developing community resilience.
