Huddersfield Theatregoers Club provides fully organised theatre trips and other outings to stately homes with coach travel, for members and their friends. Anyone can join, over 18,though generally most members are over 50. The membership fee is £25 per year. (September to September, so joining at other times will be pro rata). This is to cover admin, website etc. I am happy for you to try a few trips before joining to see if it is for you. The cost of each trip varies depending on the price of the theatre tickets but can be anywhere between around £35 to £70. (Ticket and coach travel).
I organise trips to a variety of theatres, mostly in Yorkshire and Lancashire, including Leeds Grand Theatre, Leeds Playhouse, Bradford Alhambra, Manchester Royal Exchange, The Lowry, Bolton Octagon, York Theatre Royal, Sheffield Crucible and Lyceum, Harrogate Theatre, and many others. (I've been running Huddersfield Theatregoers for 10 years, but it has been going for over 30 years! See www.theatregoers club.co.uk for more information.
The numbers are limited by coach size, generally 33, 49, or 57 seater coaches. I reserve the theatre tickets in advance then once I know numbers I pay for the tickets. and then I reserve the coach. Generally payment is required 1 to 2 months in advance of the trip- again depending on the show/theatre. You pay me, and then I pay the theatre and coach company. The West End touring shows often want payment a few months in advance for groups. The coach pick up point is Hungerford Road, Edgerton, Huddersfield.
Theatres do not refund for cancellations and I book the coach based on numbers so any cancellations are non refundable. If there is a waiting list for the trip and I can re sell the ticket to someone on the list then I will refund you, after deducting a £2 admin fee. If there isn't a waiting list you are free to offer your ticket to your friends.
I have to base the prices of trips on minimum numbers for the trip to be viable. (Any profit generated goes towards paying for my time and expenses. As you can imagine, lots of time goes into researching shows, planning and running the event. Most, (though not all, depending on the show), of the theatres offer a group rate. So the cost of your theatre ticket and coach makes it a good option if you don't want the hassle of driving to another town/parking/finding the theatre/travelling alone etc. Currently I accompany all trips, but now and again one of the members may accompany the coach. Tickets are handed out on the night as you board the coach.
Theatregoers Club not only makes it easy to visit the theatre, it allows you to share the company of like minded people and make new friends.
