Donkey fun and 101

9:30am Update.  This will be the last update.  Weather is looking good.  Come on down!

This is an introduction to donkeys for those who haven't attended one and also experienced members are welcome.     During this event, you will become familiar with my herd and donkeys in general, and learn how to handle them on our trail walks.    We'll take a short 3/4 mile (30 minutes) walk with them at the end of the event.

My first "date" with the donkeys. They are adorable - I want to take them all home!! You're doing a good thing, Steve. Hope to see you again.

Glad you enjoyed it Linda and thanks for the feedback. :-) Here's the website for that Donkey Rescue organization I was talking about in New Hampshire: http://saveyourassres... I can attest that they do a great job and put all donations to good use.

Was lots of fun to see the donkeys. They are now losing their furry winter coats and getting sleeker ones.
Lots of new people, excellent instruction and information. Perhaps because it is my second time, It went a bit long for me.
Thanks, Steve, for creating this opportunity to be with your adorable donkeys.

Thanks for the feedback Fay. I enjoy and feel compelled to share my donkeys with the community, so that is my pleasure. Although the 101 events are specifically geared for new people (and so a lot of the info and instruction can be a bit redundant for those who've already participated), that part of the event did go even longer than normal. So, it wasn't just your subjective sense. We got some good questions asked and I couldn't stop myself from talking too much about donkeys! :-) When I started talking about how hooves grow, I had a sense I was getting a "bit" too detailed! :-) Anyway, the regular trail walk are 95% walking and tend to run about 2-2.5 hours not counting the donkey load/unload time at the begin and end of the walk.

Hope you're feeling better soon. Tell Deanna that Stomper is almost all shed out now and looking very handsome.

Sorry to hear, but good luck on your VTNE... that'll be a nice accomplishment. Is that independent of large or small animals?

Hi Steve, Carol and I have to be home for a delivery being made between 10 and 1 and I wondered if it would be okay if we stop over after the delivery? We didn't RSVP since we don't want to prevent others from coming, and it may turn out that we can't make it at all.

Hi Larry. Of course, you know you're always welcome and, as one of the regulars, I know you don't need the intro as much as the new members and are willing to stand back and help the new members practice as needed. That's not to say that you, or even I, can't benefit from any practice we can get whenever we can get it! :-) The training and bonding exercise is always an ongoing one that I wish I had more time for myself.

p.s. And thanks for the consideration in leaving some spots open. We have a larger turnout than I was expecting given the last minute scheduling of this event.
