What was the last good book you read? Why did you like it?
I recently reread John Varley’s “The Ophiuchi Hotline”. It’s the basis for his Eight Worlds stories, which I’d very much enjoyed in the past. As is his wont, there are a lot of ideas packed in a fairly small space. I only wish he had a greater output. He, like Spider Robinson (and me), was a huge Heinlein fan, and the influence was both profound but unique in each case.
My friend Angela Klaus is s member of your group and she mentioned that you’re reading Simak’s “Way Station”. I’ve got a lot of Simak on the shelf, but’s been a loooong time, so I pulled it off the shelf and I’ll start it tomorrow.
