Talking About: Creating Space to be Awesome

Bringing agile approaches into how we manage people and lead teams can have wonderful, far-reaching impact. How do we get the most out of these new ways of working and also ensure that we create an inclusive environment where all types of people can be successful? In this session we’ll take a closer look at the science behind great people management, to figure out how to bring these together and craft space for everyone to be awesome.

Pete Souter - Senior PSE at Puppet

@PeterSouter

Talking About: Maintaining Level 8

Your most important piece of equipment is yourself so Pete will talk us through the basics of good ergonomics at our desks and how he has put this into practice throughout his career.

Emma Jane - Technical Project Manager at United Nations OCHA

@emmajanehw

Talking About: HOWTO Empathy

Usually when we say the word "empathy" there's an underlying "woo-woo let's talk feelings" undertone. Perhaps you think empathy is a waste of time; or maybe you think it's important, but you don't really understand how to apply the technique professionally.

Empathy is a tool you can use to understand what motivates your team; to spot blockers before they become a problem; and to get a "health check" on the projects you oversee.

James Smith - CEO DevOpsGuys

@TheDevMgr

Talking about: Why I'm C-Sick

When we talk about DevOps we often talk about culture as though it's a separate entity. James will discuss why this "objectification of culture" is part of the problem and shares stories of how organisations have successfully improved their working culture.
