What is the PCT Kickoff you ask? This is a way to show new and well seasoned hikers different strategies of hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. People come from all over the country for this event! Usually the event starts with a dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings, and breakfast is available on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Lots of vendor displays showing the latest and greatest developments of new gear.

Other events include: * Gear Contest * Video, slide and informational presentations by previous PCT hikers * Trail maintenance * Auction of lightweight gear and collectibles * Used gear to purchase and test out All of Lake Morena has been booked by ADZPCTKO for the PCT kickoff at Lake Morena. Dates are 4/28-5/1/2011. We will be able to secure our sites around mid February or early March.We will be able to secure our sites around mid February or early March. Everyone needs to reserve their own spot. I'm bringing my trailer. I will email you as soon as you can make your reservations on www.pct77.org/adz (reservation info is not listed on their site yet). BRING YOUR KAYAK IF YOU HAVE ONE! I'LL BE KAYAKING FRI/SAT/SUN EARLY MORNINGS - YOU CAN ALSO BORROW MY KAYAKS WHEN THEY AREN'T IN USE. DON'T FORGET YOUR FISHING LICENSE IF YOU WISH TO FISH!

Launch fees: The lake use fee for canoes, kayaks, and sailboards is $6.00 per day.

Rental boats: Available seven days a week and all holidays. On weekends, motorboats are available for $40.00 a day and rowboats are $20.00 a day. Monday through Friday (except holidays), motorboats are $20 a day and rowboats are $10 a day. You may provide your own motor on a rowboat.

Boat & Rental Fees for Senior/Disabled: Full day motorboat on weekends is $27.50, on weekdays $7.50; full day rowboat weekends is $16, weekdays $6.00. You must provide your own motor.

Swimming is not permitted.

Fishing Permit: Sat/Sun-$5.00/day & Weekdays $3.50 [b]Note:[/b] A California Sport Fishing License is required for all anglers 16 years and older (under Section 7145a of the Fish and Game Code).

This trip is being cross posted with several other meetups. You're welcome to visit with us starting on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday or to just come up and spend a day browsing through the vendor's displays. This will be an easy carcamp starting Thursday evening, April 28th and ending Sunday evening, May 1st.

Well behaved/QUIET dogs are welcome on this trip.

Directions: From San Diego: 46 miles east on Interstate 8 to Buckman Springs Road. Go south 7 miles to Oak Drive, then west 2 miles to Lake Morena Drive, drive straight to the park entrance.
