  • Astronomy on Tap

Hello fellow Astronomy on Tappers and welcome to yet another exciting event taking place this month! For this event we introduce undergraduate Nathan Hadland to discuss his recent experience of "Living on the Red Planet: Life at the Mars Desert Research Station". Nathan recently had the amazing opportunity to be selected as part of a small crew of current students to go to the deserts of Utah to literally live out what it would be like to live on Mars. We can't wait for him to share his real-life experiences with us! Please come out, drink some beers, and listen to some awesome science this coming Tuesday (March 26th, 2019) at our NEW TIME of 7:00pm - 9:00pm!

  • HCSC Fundraiser w/Singer/Songwriter/Activist Shelley Segal

Over the past year the HCSC has kept busy in our local community via community service, volunteerism, activism, education, and supporting those who are far to often marginalized in our community. None of this could be accomplished with the support and dedication of our members and our allies in our community. We hope you will all join us for a fun fundraiser at the new swanky establishment The Twisted Rooster Bar (special Happy Hour deals) https://twistedroosterbar.com/ We will have raffles, swag, a few surprises and a lot of laughs. And for entertainment the HCSC is lucky to have singer/songwriter/activist SHELLEY SEGAL http://www.shelleysegal.com joining us all the way from Austraila. Shelley grew up in Melbourne, Australia, in a religious community. As a young adult she questioned her Jewish tradition with it’s strict rules and rituals which separated men and women. Through her music, Shelley has become a staunch human rights advocate which grew out of her anger with those strict rules and regulations that especially affect women and those who want to live on their own terms. Shelley’s songs relate to her journey, discussing issues of religious freedom, tribalism, and women’s issues of rape culture and inclusion over mercurial vocals, spirited and soaring one moment and the next, bottomless; growling out lyrics that poke and prod and never leave. The HCSC is a proud chapter of the American Humanist Association https://americanhumanist.org and proud Affliate of American Atheists https://www.atheists.org
