ANNOUNCING HCCO’s first ever Pie Contest!

Saturday August 11th 5:00PM - 6:30PM

This year we’re bringing competitive pie baking to the HCCO Annual Summer Picnic!

Interested home bakers are invited to submit a sweet pie of their choice to the 1st ever HCCO Annual Pie Baking Contest.

A panel of judges will taste and evaluate each pie. Judging will begin at 5:30PM followed by public tastings for the people’s choice award. Winners will be announced at 6:30PM.

If you’d like to participate:

Email [masked] with your first and last name, email, and phone number.

IMPORTANT: We need the above three pieces of info to register you and we will confirm your participation by email.

Registration deadline is 5pm on August 10th.

RSVP'ing to this meetup event doesn't enter you into the pie contest.

We are encouraging contestants to bring two of the same pies and a list of ingredients to the summer picnic between 5:00PM and 5:29PM. Note: we only need the list of ingredients, not a recipe. This is intended to avoid any allergen issues.

While the judges are hard at work, you may take a walk in the park, feast on the potluck food, play kickball, or simply hang out and enjoy the picnic. You can find more details about the HCCO Summer Picnic here:

We will be taking Pie Pledges throughout the event. Pie Pledges are one-time donation pledges that attendees will honor at a later date (but during 2018). These donations will go towards HCCO’s operational costs so we can continue to offer you great events like this one! Pie pledges are not required to eat pie or to participate as a contestant. Note: We cannot accept donations onsite due to regulations.

Don’t feel competitive but want to help out?

- Bring a pie or dessert to help facilitate Pie Pledges!

- Volunteer your time! We will need 3 volunteers to help with the pie contest. Responsibilities will include: signing in contestants, setting up the pie table, helping contestants serve pie, collecting pie pledges and counting votes. Email [masked] if you’re interested in helping out!

Pies must be homemade. Store bought pies will be disqualified.

HCCO Board Members and Staff may bring pie but they are exempt from entering the pie contest.
