This is your chance to have your voice heard!
The Annual Members meeting is an opportunity for members of the Humanist Community of Central Ohio to help govern our organization. Members can run for seats on the board, vote to elect board members, and also vote on changes to our bylaws.
If you are interested in running for the board, please contact Amanda Metskas at email@example.com . Board candidates should submit a short bio (no more than 300 words) to Amanda by November 5th. Nominations will also be accepted at the meeting.
All members in good standing who attend the meeting are eligible to vote and/or run for office. You can join or renew your membership here. (http://www.hcco.org/join) We’ll also be able confirm your membership status at the meeting, and accept renewals at that time if your membership has expired.
In addition to electing board members who will take office in January, we will be voting on revised Bylaws at this meeting. Bylaws are the basic organizing document that defines how an organization operates. Board member Doug Berger chaired a bylaws revision committee, and the board unanimously voted to present these changes to the membership for consideration. You can read about the changes and see the proposed draft here. (http://www.hcco.org/node/198)
We will take questions and vote on the bylaws first, and then allow each candidate for board membership to speak briefly and conduct the board election. Board candidates who cannot attend the meeting are still eligible to run, and may submit a statement to be read on their behalf. There are 10 seats on the board, and each member can vote for up to 10 candidates.
After we finish the election, we’ll use the remaining time for a discussion about what you want to see the Humanist Community of Central Ohio do in the upcoming year.
Hope to see you at our Annual Members meeting, and looking forward to your help and ideas for how to make our growing community even more awesome in the new year!
Join us at 12:30 for pizza in the meeting room!
