Are you suffering from mental illness Come join us for many topics, mindfulness meditation and time for talk therapy. This group will be Thursdays from 7pm-8:30pm in Des Moines and Ankeny. Also whether you're from anywhere in the Greater Des Moines area or Ankeny, if you have family or friends that are struggling then invite them as well. This group is open and will be fun and relaxing rather than structured! First Group Thursday 10/13 - Ironically the first meetup happened to be the same date and time as AMOS - Stand Up For Mental Health Care. It will begin with several people chosen to share several stories demonstrating a lack of mental health access. Then the 2 current House Representatives and their candidates have a unique Q&A. Following the Q&A they will have 2 minutes to make a statement on the questions they answered. Do you want to see the mental health system change in Iowa? The more people, the more chance we will see change. We need to make a statement so the government will come up bills to get them passed through the House and the Senate. This is huge so join this group and we will go in and stand up as a group! Next Group 10/20 - I will tell my story with any Q&A after. We will then get into Depression and Anxiety. We will end with "Clear our Minds". For questions email greaterdesmoinesankenymh Meetup URL -

I look forward to discussing Humanism and mental health issues intertwine with each other.

This announcement doesn't clarify, am I to assume a meeting is in Ankeny, or at First Unitarian tonight, or both?

Interesting position would be to discuss Humanism and how it can help in understanding how religious culture may have contributed to a large amount of mental health issues. The lightening of the burden of Christian-imposed guilt once agnosticism is chosen is a factor worthy of discussion.
