At Humanity Thru Art and Sin CIty Shakespeare, we strive to provide people in our community with experiences that open their eyes to the craft of Theatre through participation. We do this by providing activities that allow everyone to explore the arts and humanities from the practitioner’s point of view.
We are dedicated to this mission.
So when some of our current participants asked if I could put together performance workshops, I said, “Of course.”
Some wanted wanted a workshop to help writers transition to vocal performance of their work; others wanted a professionally taught introduction to acting; still others wanted a workshop to prepare them for acting Shakespeare.
All of these areas of study require a basic foundation in vocal performance. So that was the logical first step.
Then I had to figure out how to pull it off.
Without current access to a free performance or studio space, there was but one solution. Transform my garage into a functional workspace
and park outside. Problem solved.
To my surprise, the space actually worked well. Folks were happy and comfortable. Of course, we’ll be looking for a different venue in the future, but The Garage allows us to hold workshops on whatever day and time we choose.
So if you’re not adverse to receiving free, top quality performance training from an experienced professional Theatre Artist, just because it’s being provided in a garage studio, consider joining us.
