A Game of Thrones (strategy)

Orion is eager to play this and is bringing his copy o fit.  It can be described as Diplomacy on steroids, for those of you familiar with that game. It's based on George R.R. Martin's fantasy series, A Song of Ice and Fire. In this board game, each player starts with one of the kingdoms and then seeks to capture surrounding provinces which make it possible to build more and more armies, which you then use to vie with your neighbors. Orders are placed with face-down card pieces so you have to out-guess what your opponents are planning. There are also some interesting mechanics as you bid for the support of three different sources of power (such as the Iron Throne) that each provide an advantage while also needing to help stave off the threat from the North.

any idea what the average/expected game length is (with new comers involved)? trying to talk another friend into joining in but he would need to leave around 5-ish

Should not to longer than that, rarely goes beyond four hours. Especially if he can show at 1230 for the demo

I can't make it this time (hence why I never did an rsvp) but I will definitely play next time. I hope Game of Thrones becomes a staple game at these events. I hear it is a great deal if fun.

It shouldn't be a problem to arrange a lift for you. It's only minutes away. We do it all the time. Just give me a call at[masked]-8117. If no one else is here yet, you might need to wait until I or someone else can leave the house.

So Orion, should all the newbies show up at 12:30 then? My house is open!

I am looking forward to playing this. I was also wondering if I could get a lift from the metro as this would work out better for me then driving.

Hi I live in Greenbelt and I am trying to learn some new games and meet people in the area.

Hey just wondering, are you looking for only experienced players or is it okay if people who have never played before participate?

So long as there are 6 players for the game, I'm willing to teach new people. Let me check with Joe to see if I can start teaching at 12:30 for the newbies.
