What we're about

SEE THE FULL EVENT SCHEDULE HERE (https://www.meetup.com/I-live-on-LI-but-I-love-NYC/events/upcoming)

This is a a group for people who live and work on LI, temporarily or long-term, but who recognize we are in one of the greatest metropolitan areas in the world. It's for people who are creatures of the city, with all its diversity, possibilities, opportunities, and excitement. To be sure, we will make excursions into the city--and that includes Queens and Brooklyn as well as Manhattan...and let's not forget the Bronx and Staten Island as well. However, we will get together here on Long Island too, in the interest of promoting convenience and encouraging inclusion by people whose budgets may not allow them to take trips to the city as frequently as they'd like. The point of this group is as much to allow meeting, forming friendships, and having fellowship with others whose hearts belong in the city, as it is to take trips into the city for all that it offers.

Examples of trips to the city might include entertainment/cultural outings, intellectual pursuits, and social justice and human rights entreaties. There will be options to suit most anyone! We might attend an improv comedy night with the Upright Citizens Brigade, attend the Museum of Modern Art, join a march or demonstration to promote social justice, human rights, or other progressive cause, walk along the Highline Park and visit a brewpub or vegetarian eatery, frolic or picnic in Central Park or in Brooklyn, attend professional sporting event, or take a tip from Time Out New York, the Village Voice, the New York Press, the Indypendent, the NY Times, the NY Daily News, or some other suggestion source.

Long Island events may include a potluck, movie outing, dining option, winery tour, dance night in Huntington or some other locale, etc., with tips taken from the LI Press, Newsday, News 12 LI, Long Island Pulse Magazine, and other sources. The options are endless, but linking them all are progressive-minded people open to try new things. Our homes and travels may be on LI, but our hearts and minds belong to NYC, wandering from Greenwhich Village to the Lower East Side to Brooklyn and beyond!

The Differences Between Men & Women - Online Debate & Mixer

*GET TICKET AT - https://dljparty.ticketleap.com/men-vs-women-debate--mixer/dates/ (*Event time is 8pm EASTERN STANDARD TIME) Maybe this will be the time we figure each other out??!! It's not a secret that most of the time, men and women operate on two totally different wavelengths. Join us for this fun and online event where we come together to get on the same page... at least for one night :) Your host and moderator for this fun event where we will enjoy cocktails & socializing… virtually! How It Works: Prior to the event we will also ask you to send questions that you would like your host to ask to members of the opposite sex. Your questions will be read anonymously and kept confidential. Example: Host will randomly pick a question that was submitted from a male directed to the females. The females will have a chance to address the question and hopefully clear up why women do what they do. The same will happen for the men. It’s fun and we really get some great debates going. This is really a great way to get into the heads of exactly what people are thinking. You will be amazed at the very candid and honest things that come out. Grab your favorite cocktail & snacks and get ready to socialize and solve the mysteries of the differences between men and women. How To Attend: Register for a ticket and we will send you the code to join our Zoom meeting day of the event. You will need a computer with webcam or tablet/smartphone. How many are expected? This is a multi-group event so don't pay attention to RSVPs. Most of our virtual events have up to 20 participants unless otherwise specified. How much? $10-$15 depending upon how early you register (and # of spots are available) *P.S. Event organizers are being hit especially hard right now. We are working hard to create fun virtual events for you to participate in and meet new people. We appreciate your support during this trying time.
