Bi-monthly networking and learning meetup in London

  • Calthorpe Project

    258-274 Gray's Inn Road, London WC1X 8LH (map)

    51.526836 -0.117946

  • For those able to travel to London for a full afternoon session, please join the bi-monthly Networking and Learning meetup of our sister meetup group there, for four hours on the 3rd Tuesday of every other month.

For details of each particular meetup, to see who has RSVPd and to share ideas and suggestions for the programme, check out the event and comments at IAF London & South East facilitators & friends.  Please RSVP here or there.

We meet every other month in the meeting room of the Calthorpe Project community centre on Grays Inn Road, about 10 minutes walk from Kings Cross station and 15 minutes walk from Euston.

The room can accomodate up to around 15-20. It opens to a small decked area overlooking the community garden, and has a large screen TV for presentations and space for a sticky wall. There is an adjoining kitchen where we can help ourselves to tea & coffee at 50p per cup, and we can bring our own food and drink as we wish - please let us know if you will bring cake!

I hope that the timing and location of these meetups might attract and enable people to travel from outside of London to join us as well - even from neigbouring IAF groups in Scotland, Paris or Brussels (we will be a 10 minute walk from the Eurostar terminal) as well as our sister meetup groups in the North of England and South West England. Please invite friends & colleagues from near and far!

We will be able to demonstrate, practice and experiment with our facilitation together, and share feedback on that, as well as share presentations and support through discussion. So, building on the successful format of our previous monthly meetups in London, I suggest some combination each time of these four key elements:

    • a round of introductions, followed by open discusssion to follow up on whatever emerges of common interest

    • a short presentation from one or two of those present, followed by questions and discussion

    • one or two longer facilitated sessions, followed by feedback and discussion on the process as well as the content

    * an opportunity for 2 or 3 of those present to share a current challenge or issue that they are struggling with, to receive questions, feedback or advice in return.

Please let us know in a comment if you are prepared to share a presentation, facilitate a session, or bring a challenge or issue for us to respond to.

Stay on afterwards if you can to go for some food and drink together nearby. There are of course plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby, including a great value pre-7pm menu at the Union Taven.

Please share a review on the group page afterwards, to let others know how you found the meetup - and please use the hashtag #IAFMeetup on social media before, during & after the meetup!
