DIY- No Sew Fleece Scarves Donations

Please join the Spring Arts Guild in being handy in making no-sew fleece scarves.

From the Spring Arts Guild's meetup group:
We have decided to "Give Back" to the community this holiday season. We will be making 'no-sew' fleece scarves at this meeting to donate to Interfaith Ministries who will hand them out to homebound seniors. Interfaith Ministries also runs the Meals On Wheels program here in Houston, so they have a pretty good list of seniors in need. Please check them out here on facebook & their own website regarding what items they would like as donations.

I hope you clicked those links and got a good feel for this great community organization (remember, you will be a senior one day...)

So, as a craft group, lets put our skills to work for the community.

If you CAN, please start purchasing fleece ASAP, (usually on sale @ Joanns quite often -- if you purchase the fleece reminants at your local Joann's store, its 50% off already, then if fleece is on sale that week, you get that ADDITIONAL discount on top of that 50%). I have already started a collection of fleece reminants ( I stop at Joann's after our SAG meeting each month).

You can either start now on working slowly on making these scarves, bring all your purchased fleece to bring to this meeting.

-scissors (good fabric scissors would be your best friend for your hand)

or Rotary cutter & self-healing mat

-your fleece purchases

-tape measure (or i can teach you my measuring method)

-1 CLEAN kitchen (unscented) trash bag (to put all our finished products in for donation)

-embelishments (buttons, bling, beads...etc.)

-needle & thread or fabric glue for embelishments

Tutorials for no-sew fleece scarves:

This is a SUPER easy project, even if you have never worked with fabric/fleece before. Don't be afraid!

**We will have a special guest during snack time as our vendor.**

Chatting, snacking, vending/shopping, library business starts at 5:30pm

Please bring goodies/drinks to share if you can! We chat and mingle for an hour, then we'll do raffles at around 6:25pm then get right into the event at 6:30pm.

Was happy that the eight attendees came to help but sad that more members did not come. We had a nice time and visit with each other anyway.
