Featured Speakers: Dr Christian Jacobi and Matthias Bangert
Dr. Christian Jacobi is an IBM Distinguished Engineer and the Chief Architect for IBM Z processor design. He graduated with a Master and Ph.D. from Saarland University in Germany in 1999 and 2002 and then joined the IBM Research & Development team in Boeblingen, Germany. Since 2012, Christian is based out of Poughkeepsie, NY. He has worked on many generations of IBM Z and IBM Power micro-processors and accelerators. He currently leads the overall architecture of future IBM Z processors.
Matthias Bangert is the IBM Executive IT Specialist, worldwide technical sales, based in Munich Germany and worked the last 20 years for IBM in the Hardware Technical Sales area. Matthias has 33 years of Mainframe experience and started as System Programmer for z/OS, being responsible for all aspects of a z/OS installation. He also led early support engagements on DASD copy technologies, Sysplex introductions and z Hardware. In addition, he was responsible for large Sysplex Consolidation, Datacenter move and System Managed Storage projects. Since January 2019 Matthias is part of the IBM worldwide technical sales team being responsible for z Resiliency (GDPS, Logical Corruption, z/OS, etc.) and new pricing models.
