What we're about

Hosted in our own café by Inter-Cultural Language School (ICLS) this group puts a strong emphasis on the Japanese language and culture. We happily maintain a great environment for our regular and visiting members to develop meaningful friendships while practising a language or sharing their own.

ICLS, originally founded in 1990 by Akiyoshi Tsutsumi as a Japanese Language school, maintains strong connections to Japan and all things Japanese. Promotional events include internships in Japan, Japanese product and education showcases and and cultural tourism for students of the Japanese language.

We welcome everyone, regardless of background and language ability, including visitors and students of other schools, who are interested in the Japanese Language, Japanese Culture and Japan. You need only bring yourself and your enthusiasm for open minded cultural interchange. Japanese learners and Japanese native speakers are especially welcome.

Students and speakers of other languages may join us and they will also find additional speaking opportunities at our alternative Thursday Meetup; The English Language Chat Circle @ ICLS.
