END OF SUMMER COOKOUT! The event is from 6 pm to 9 pm but the meetup states 5;30 - 9:30 for setup and cleanup time. We plan to invite the boys to help with setup and cleanup because what better way to make friends than by helping each other?

Come meet and help provide, from our Humanist outlook, ongoing adult relationships for "our boys" who we are working with through Olive Crest Foster Childrens' Homes. This is will be our first event for our 24 boys who live in a cul-de-sac in 4 adjacent homes in Perris, CA. The location will be updated soon. Please write a comment below if you are interested in car-pooling.

We'll be cooking out typical summer BBQ fare, providing water balloons, having a wonderful drum circle with some really fine percussionists and serving a build your own ice-cream sundae bar. We're setting the party up in the street in the cul-de-sac.

Olive Crest staff will also be on hand at the event. Your kids are welcome to come with you.

Several members have very generously responded to our call-out for donations and it isn't too late still. We are planning three more events throughout the year for these kids so if you would like to help sponsor, just write me back and let me know. You can send your check made out to IEAA to Reb Kitchings at 6080 Shaker Drive, Riverside, CA 92506. Let me know you're sending it so I'll look for it. Here are our sponsors so far:
Reb Kitchings
Eric Ozols
Peter Madrid and brother
Nancy Sappington
Every paid member through their membership (Go to to our IEEAH page and sign up today!)

There are more volunteers who are hosting this event than listed but Meetup only allows 5. Note that Espy, Gabe, Mary Alice and Logi-cally (Crystal) are also hosting as working committee members. Jill is bringing her son, Levi to help lead the drum circle. A new grad school percussionist from Redlands found out about our event and has volunteered to help. I believe more folks are also joining the working committee to help plan our next events. Come join us!

All our volunteers at this event will have a tee-shirt that we had printed up just for us. The tee-shirts are teal, all cotton, and have "Humanist Volunteer - We believe in Good" printed on the front with the Humanist human logo. They will be available at the event for whatever you can pay from between $5 and $30. They look great! If you want to get yours before the event you can pick it up at Market Night, Thursday, August 15. I will also bring them to our Humanist Hands-On Helping Our Foster Kids committee meeting on Tuesday, August 13th at Panera Bread.
