Author, attorney, and activist Rich Procida will lead a discussion on the legal and political implications of impeachment. Rich studied constitutional law under Jamie Raskin at American University in Washington, D.C. and is the co-author of a textbook on foreign comparative constitutional law. He has written multiple articles on impeachment for LAProgressive.com and has been speaking to Democratic and progressive groups about impeachment. He is a national leader with By The People, a group working with other progressive organizations to demand that Congress stop delaying and begin a formal impeachment inquiry now before it’s too late.
Rich Procida has done multiple presentations to liberal and progressive groups where many were skeptical of the utility and wisdom of impeachment. Once he presents the case for moving forward with impeachment proceedings in plain and clear language, the discussion that follows often becomes calmer and more respectful. The presentation will lay out the many alleged impeachable offenses and address liberal and progressive objections to impeachment. Mr. Procida has little to say to conservatives who oppose impeachment except to acknowledge their rightful indignation at a Democratic party establishment that alleges the President has committed crimes yet claims it doesn’t have enough evidence to begin a formal impeachment inquiry.
Rich Procida also writes about religion and politics forLAProgressive.com, blogs about scripture, politics, and the supernatural at ModernLectionaries.blogspot.com, and produces a podcast called “Bible Study for Progressives.”
