  • VIRTUALLY DRINKING, SMOKING OR DIET-COKING ATHEIST HAPPY HOUR

ZOOM Meeting ID[masked] Password[masked] Come join your heathen friends or make new ones without social distancing (except we’ll be online in a virtual conference room). If you miss seeing your friends or don’t have any like-minded friends yet, this is the meetup for you. Come play some ice-breaker games with us and lighten up from the week. This event occurs every other Friday at 6 PM and lasts just an hour. We’re using Zoom and it is completely free to you to join and come to this meetup. Please go now and signup at Zoom.us https://zoom.us/. It is way easier than you might think. We’ll muddle through each of these meetups and help whoever needs help with the technology. Put your dog up if he barks (mine does) and try and find some earphones so your speakers don’t cause feedback, but don’t worry if you don’t have any because we’ll figure it out. You’ll need a device that has a camera and microphone like your laptop, notebook, or desktop with an added camera or in a pinch, your cellphone. When it’s time for the Meetup, pour a drink, sign in to zoom, enter the meeting ID, click join then enter the password. When you enter, your mic will be off so look for it at the bottom of your screen and click it to open when you are ready to talk. By now you will see the others who have already joined. We’re not going to dwell on the Coronavirus nor ignore it, but we want to have something approaching more normal, human interaction like what’s going on in our lives, what TV shows, movies, or books we’re watching or reading and how we’re doing in general. Bring your cocktail, coke, and peanuts, and let's have a happy hour! Time 6 PM Friday, every other week. Meeting ID[masked]

Then we’ll round-robin and each person will comment on their thoughts about the talk. Next, the room is open for conversation. Anjali Kumar went looking for God and ended up finding something else entirely. In an uplifting, funny talk about our shared humanity, she takes us on a spiritual pilgrimage to meet witches in New York, a shaman in Peru, an infamous "healer" in Brazil and others, sharing an important lesson: what binds us together is far stronger than what separates us, and our differences are not insurmountable. Some comment stimulators: 1. Where does a Christian’s “relationship with God” come from and lead to? 2. Humans evolved by virtue of surviving through cooperation/helping each other. Are religions more than that formalized? 3. The religious Nones don’t find themselves associated with any particular “faith” but often find their idea of God in mystery or awe of nature – a baby’s breath, petals of a rose, a beautiful sunset, the unconditional loyalty of a dog, moments of silence. What do you say to this? 4. Nones often like to believe in many gods like Odin, Pan, and Yahweh or one they make up themselves. Should atheism and Nones be counted the same way statistically? 5. Are health, happiness, and love the full list? The length is 16 minutes 08 seconds. ABOUT THE SPEAKER Anjali Kumar · General counsel, author, "idea acupuncturist" Anjali Kumar is a Brooklyn-born, first-generation Indian American author, attorney, advisor, speaker and “idea acupuncturist.” Please help support our organization by becoming a member and making a monthly donation at https://www.patreon.com/IEAAH.
