  • American Satanism with Steve Hill & Friends

    Online event

Note: This is crosspost from our friends, Jason Frye and the Humanist Association of San Diego. Please consider adding "IEAAH" to your ZOOM name prior to the event. Come join us, have a great time and make some new friends!

We have welcomed the representation of many religious communities: Humanistic Jews, Methodists, Unitarians, and a radical former Franciscan Priest. Now, we bring back one of our good friends and community members--our favorite Black Humanist Satanist, Steve Hill.

From Anton Szandor LaVey introducing his philosophy to the world in Luciferian garb to The Satanic Temple placing Baphomet statues on public lands, Satanism has entered the American zeitgeist.

Looking at the character of Lucifer in context, especially from his narrative origins in gods like Prometheus bringing the knowledge of the gods to human beings, one could easily say that the God of Abraham's fan club has certainly tarnished Old Scratch's reputation.

On 6/6 we are taking a deep dive into Satanism! It will be one hell of a good time!

  • Mayday for Humanity/National Day of Reason/National Day of Prayer

On Thursday, May 6, 2021, please join the Freethought Society, Recovering From Religion, the Freedom From Religion Foundation, the Secular Student Alliance and the Secular Coalition for America as we celebrate The National Day of Reason by hosting a Zoom entertainment extravaganza entitled Mayday for Humanity. The event will begin at 4:00 PM PST/7:00 PM EST.

Comedians Leighann Lord and Ian Harris will co-host this 3-hour event. They will usher in an array of comedians, poets, and musical performers. The National Day of Reason falls on the same date of the National Day of Prayer. As the religious community prays, the nontheist community will be taking action! During the National Day of Reason Mayday for Humanity event we will be collecting online donations to benefit homeless shelters and food banks selected by the event co-sponsors. All beneficiary organizations operate in a non-discriminatory and secular manner.

The program will be interspersed with messages from co-sponsors, celebrity supporters, and people who are conducting grassroots community service projects during the 2021 Secular Week of Action (April 30 - May 9). An online auction will also take place with items donated by Zenos Frudakis, Ann Druyan, Curt Anderson, the Humanists Society of Santa Barbara and many others.

  • Secular Week of Action April 30 - May 9

    Online event

2021's Secular Week of Action is just a month away! Every year, the secular movement comes together to create change in our local communities and provide a relevant alternative to the National Day of Prayer (May 6, 2021). Our coalition spends a whole week organizing service projects and volunteering as individuals — increasing the visibility of secular people and helping improve our world. Our sister groups in Southern CA will also be participating in this as well.

This year, because of the dramatic increase in food insecurity and homelessness as a result of the pandemic, we’re especially encouraging our members and groups to focus on those critical issues, but any service is encouraged throughout the week of April 30 - May 9.

IEAAH/FAR plans to volunteer with the Homebound Emergency Relief Outreach (HERO) through the Feeding American Riverside/San Bernardino to help deliver food to vulnerable neighbors. The HERO program began as an effort to assist seniors and homebound residents in need of food during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, FARSB has continued to help deliver fresh and non-perishable food to thousands of people in the Inland Empire.

Be sure to log your hours with me so we can report them nationally.

We encourage you to wear your "Humanists Believe in Good" tee shirts and if you don't have one and want one, let me know. [masked].

https://www.feedingamericaie.org/programs There are also other ways to volunteer or donate time or money listed on this website. Go ahead and sign up so your paperwork can be processed in time to volunteer.
