Each Friday throughout the school year, Assistance League's Snack Attack delivers nutritious snack bags to over 750 elementary students in Riverside and Moreno Valley Unified School Districts to ease their hunger over the weekend when they do not have access to free lunch programs at their school. Since this philanthropic program was initiated in 2007, more than 97,000 snack packs have been distributed to children from homeless and transitional families. IEAAH has been awarded the fourth Fridays of the month to help through May. Space is very limited.
Assistance League is a secular organization and does not promote nor require any religious participation in order for the kids to receive their food. This is an excellent opportunity for the larger community to witness atheists' values and morals at work.
1) Volunteers should wear comfortable shoes because we will be standing for about 1 1/2 hours.
2) Parking is across the street (from the back of Assistance League) in the Bank of America parking lot. They allow us to park away from their building near the street (which I believe is Beaty St.) The parking in the back of Assistance League is reserved for our drivers who deliver the boxes of lunches to the elementary schools.
3) You will be asked to sign in as Assistance League gets grants based on volunteer hours.
4) Volunteers should be flexible in what they are asked to do—it could be on the packing line, cutting out box tops or unpacking food items for the following week.
